Highmark Power Inc. is delivering the Halifax Regional Municipality (HRM) EV Charging Network in partnership with SWTCH Energy and the municipality. This initiative, part of the HalifACT Climate Action Plan, expands public access to Level 2 and Level 3 EV chargers across the Halifax region, supporting the transition to clean transportation.

Scope of Work:

  • Installation of Level 2 & Level 3 EV Chargers: Installed SWTCH Energy EV chargers, including Level 2 units for daily use and Level 3 DC fast chargers for rapid charging.

  • Electrical Infrastructure & Power Distribution: Installed power distribution systems, transformers, and protective equipment to support charging stations.

  • Utility Coordination & Permitting: Collaborated with Nova Scotia Power and municipal authorities to ensure seamless grid integration and regulatory compliance.

  • Civil & Trenching Work: Completed necessary excavation, conduit installation, and site restoration.

  • Testing & Commissioning: Verified system functionality and reliability, ensuring chargers are fully operational for public use.

Supporting the HalifACT Climate Strategy:

This project aligns with HalifACT, Halifax’s climate action plan, by reducing transportation emissions and improving EV infrastructure accessibility. By providing public charging stations in key locations, it helps remove barriers to EV adoption and supports Halifax’s goal of net-zero emissions by 2050 (Halifax EV Strategy).

Through this initiative, Highmark Power Inc. continues to lead the way in EV infrastructure development, working alongside SWTCH Energy and HRM to build a clean, electrified future in Atlantic Canada.
