Pollution Probe’s CHARGED program receives $3.3M to accelerate clean transportation in Atlantic Canada — Highmark Power ready to deliver.

Highmark Power is proud to support the newly expanded CHARGED program — a national initiative led by Pollution Probe to deploy electric vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure in under-served communities in Nova Scotia and Newfoundland & Labrador.
Backed by funding from the Government of Canada’s Zero Emission Vehicle Infrastructure Program (ZEVIP), the CHARGED program has received a new investment of $3.3 million to support EV charger installations in public spaces, workplaces, multi-unit residential buildings, and fleet operations.
Since its pilot launch in 2023, CHARGED has already funded over 200 EV chargers across the country. With this latest funding, the program will accelerate EV adoption in Atlantic Canada — where charging gaps are still a barrier to widespread use.
About ZEVIP
Since 2016, the Government of Canada has invested over $1 billion to make EVs more affordable and chargers more accessible. These investments are driving the creation of a coast-to-coast network of public charging infrastructure in communities where Canadians live, work, and play.
In Budget 2019 and the 2020 Fall Economic Statement, $280 million was committed to ZEVIP to deploy 33,500 EV chargers and 10 hydrogen refuelling stations over five years.
In Budget 2022, ZEVIP was recapitalized with an additional $400 million, extending the program through March 31, 2027.
This is complemented by $500 million from the Canada Infrastructure Bank to support larger-scale EV and hydrogen projects.
Canada’s current targets: 84,500 chargers and 45 hydrogen stations to be deployed nationwide by 2029.
Highmark Power: Supporting Clean Transportation at Ground Level
As a regional leader in EV charging infrastructure, solar PV, and battery storage, Highmark Power has been deeply involved in electrifying Atlantic Canada’s transportation sector. We work with municipalities, utilities, developers, and national networks to deliver turnkey EV charging solutions — from permitting and civil construction to electrical installation and long-term maintenance.
Our team has played a key role in recent charger deployments across the province, including projects with Halifax Regional Municipality, Nova Scotia Power, Tesla, and Electrify Canada and has established a track record of high-quality, fast-turnaround work for Level 2 and DC fast chargers.
With the CHARGED program and ZEVIP backing new investments in clean transportation, Highmark Power is ready to scale deployment in urban, rural, and remote communities.
